I appreciate the darker aspects of Christmas; for me, Krampus stands out as one of the finest horror Christmas films you can watch, and it’s a movie I revisit every year...
So... when I discovered this fantastic print, I knew I had to construct and paint it.
Initially, I chose the wrong print color, going with Red instead of Black, which I intended to use as my primary color; it was a decision I regretted later.
After spending additional time and paint, I achieved the color I desired; the entire diorama is printed in standard PLA and dry brushed with the appropriate colors, avoiding the use of an airbrush altogether.
I intend to create a tutorial on dry brushing soon for those interested in trying it; the detail you can bring out using this technique is remarkable.
The lights surrounding the base were sourced from China for £3.50 and originally shone bright White, which I tinted with a clear red to produce a vibrant orange effect.
The entire diorama is subtly dusted with fine white glitter in the right spots, which enhances its appearance beautifully.
If I were to make any changes, I would likely print the shattered glass globe using clear resin; PLA Clear never truly achieves clarity, but I am still pleased with the overall aesthetic I have created.
Though Christmas was two months ago, I highly recommend the film if you haven’t seen it.
